Port Blair, Jan 12: General public have been informed that elaborate traffic arrangements have been made for all Rehearsal days in connection with Republic Day Function starting from 12th Jan., 2023 onwards. As per the arrangement, the movement of all vehicular traffic shall be closed from R. K. Mission to Dharamshala Junction and from Scout Hut Junction to Girls School Crossing from 0700 Hrs onwards till dispersal of contingents on completion of the parade rehearsals.

It is brought to the notice of the general public, electricity consumers and government departments that power supply will remain suspended on 13.01.2023 (Friday) from 0800 Hrs. to 1100 Hrs. in order to urgent replacement of dilapidated electric pole near Naushad Colony, Bhatu Basti.

Recovered Jewellery Worth Rs 11 Lakhs Returned to its Owners

Port Blair, Jan 11: On 12/09/2022 a burglary case vide FIR No. 80/2022 U/s 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Bambooflat against un-known person on the complaint of Shri Abdul Aziz, Rtd. Assistant Secretary, R/o Kadakachang for theft of gold ornaments worth Rs. 14 lakhs approximately from his house. Working professionally, on 12/12/2022 accused person namely T. Papa Rao @ Raja S/o Shri T. Chander Rao, 34 Yrs, R/o Ferrargunj was arrested and gold ornaments weighing around 172 gms were recovered.

Port Blair, Jan 11: Today at around 1400 hrs around 250 people of South Andaman District gathered at Directorate of Health, Port Blair and staged protest against DHS and ANIIMS for its pathetic management of Health Care Services in the Islands. The protest was led by Mr. V K Abdul Aziz (Zilla Parishad Member), Mr T Yaghambaram (Pradhan), Mr Angshuman Roy, Mr Rakeshwar Lall, Mr Sunil Gupta, Miss Seema Kumari, Mr Abdul Majeed, Mr Hemant Kumar Dhingra, Mr Rajesh Kumar Lall, Smti Minoti Biswas, Mr Sanjay Kumar, JNRM Students and others renowned social workers of Islands.

Port Blair, Jan 11: A one-day workshop on awareness program on Social Issues was organised by DIET along with Humane Touch for the trainees of DIET at DIET auditorium on 10th January 2023 at 9:00 AM.

Dr. Mitesh Behari, a well-known Psychiatrist of the Islands was the chief guest on this occasion. He spoke on the topic of Social evil and Mental health. In his address, he gave more stress on mental health as it is essential and that those living with mental health issues are deserving of care, understanding, compassion, and pathways to hope, healing, recovery, and fulfillment.
